Life brings so many ups and downs. As followers of Jesus, personally we are not exempt from pain, suffering, or death. Our church family endures ups and downs every day. Out of all the people who call JWUMC home many are dealing with pain, suffering and death. Every day and week we are caring for friends and families for various reasons. I am blessed to help pastor a church that is so loving and caring for so many people. Keep up the great work, God is so very proud of you.
I want to highlight a couple of our staff members who need your prayers. Priscilla Novak is our Director of JW Kids. She lost her mother this past weekend to a rapid and tragic disease. Pam was a 20+ year member of our chancel choir. Please be in prayer for Priscilla as she adjusts to this loss in her life. The other staff member is Phil Hooper, our Director of Music and Fine Arts. He has been hospitalized for the past four weeks. Phil continues to have ups and downs each day. Your prayers of healing and strength are needed for him during this time. As a church family, we want and need Phil to move towards the recovery phase.
Our Music and Fine Arts Ministry has been under Phil’s direction for over 30 years. He has created and lead an amazing ministry that blesses each one of us during worship. I wanted to let you know that Phil believes his recovery will take many months. Since the music and worship ministry is so important to the life of JWUMC, we are looking for an Interim Director until the end of the year. This will be important for Phil to have time to recover and not worry about those he serves. Please be in prayer for the person who might take this position. They have some big shoes to fill. Currently we are accepting resumes from those inside and outside the church. This person and position is an essential part of our staff and is a must from week to week for our worship services.
Please continue to be in prayer for Phil, Priscilla, and the person who will be an Interim Director for Traditional Music and Worship.
Psalm 40:1-3 says,
I waited patiently for the Lord;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the pit of destruction,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord.
P.S. – Please continue to be in prayer for those effected by the mass shootings in our country. May our prayers be felt, as God comforts those who have been injured or lost loved ones.
