SUMMIT Men's Ministry

There are more than 750 men enrolled in the membership of JWUMC. All are inducted into the United Methodist Men’s organization (UMM) as members on joining the body of the Methodist Church. JWUMC Men’s Ministry is currently under expansion as we introduce a dynamic new program of Discipleship designed to follow our church’s mission of “Going out and making Disciples." Men’s ministry is defined as anything that touches men; be it ministry to men, by men, or for men, with over 100 different ministry areas of opportunity in JWUMC as a whole.

Our expansion program, known as SUMMIT, is designed to prepare men for their role of discipleship, facilitating the transition of a man from being called to becoming equipped and fully prepared to got out into the world and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ by witness and  actions to others. Our name says it fully in expanding the word as an acronym:

Their walk with Christ

Our program is an adaptation of an already successful program in use throughout the U.S. We are currently under way in the planning stages, with a leadership team formed, the implementation strategy identified, and a branding/marketing program under development. Presentations have been made to the Adult Ministries Leadership and to the Church Council.  Please click on the Summit logo above to view the presentation and learn more about this exciting, upcoming ministry.

In working with men in our discipleship program, we recognize that men are at different times, depths, and places in their walk with Christ, so we focus on the fact that one size does not fit all men. As can be seen, we have adopted an approach of individuality; an all-inclusive ministry where men can learn to become disciples at their own pace. Discipleship is NOT about behavior modification, it IS about the transformation of men’s hearts. Only through this transformation can a man be filled with the love, compassion, and drive needed to sustain him in his call to serve the community in Christ’s name.

There are additional types of gatherings and activities within the men’s organization itself, in addition to the regular ministry work that we support outside of JWUMM. We offer meal meetings, book study groups, an annual golf tournament, and social outings to sporting and other events.

We invite you to join our ministry. Come experience the joy you will receive from the service and fellowship you will encounter in our SUMMIT men’s ministry.
