Women

Women's Ministry

The John Wesley United Methodist Women's Ministry is an accepting community of women committed to the Christian faith and open to opportunities of spiritual growth. Through Bible study, special events, seasonal programs, and prayer, we encourage women of all ages within our community to enrich their relationship with God and to reflect God's light to our community. We also provide fellowship through Bible study and small groups, special events, mission projects, and service. Twice yearly the women of John Wesley retreat for quiet time and spiritual growth, along with making new friends and fellowship opportunities.

Bible Study: Short-term studies are offered year-round to increase our knowledge and understanding of the scriptures where women come together to study God’s word and explore how we can apply it to our lives. Childcare is available with 3-days advance reservations by calling 281-397-8269.

Christian fellowship strengthens us in our spiritual journey. Offering diverse activities allows us the time and opportunity to know and care for each other better as well as the opportunity to reach out and serve others.

United Methodist Women

PURPOSE: The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

MEMBERSHIP:  Any woman, whether or not she is a member of the United Methodist Church, may become a member (only the President is required by the Discipline to be a member of the United Methodist Church) by indicating a desire to participate in the work, by any one or more of the ways that are open to her for mission, such as:

  • prayer, giving, and study, action, service, interest, time and ability.

The door of belonging to a supportive Christian fellowship is wide open and welcoming-not restrictive and confining.

I PLEDGE: My prayers: to bind me closer to Him in whose strength I live; My service: in the extension of God's Kingdom; My gifts: to the support of the UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

CIRCLES:

Faith Circle generally meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday evening of the month throughout the school year, in homes of members. Most of the women in Faith Circle work outside the home. Because many come straight from work, there is a light meal prior to the business and program.

Hope Circle meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. throughout the school year. They usually meet in homes of members and light refreshments are served prior to the business and program.

Peace Circle usually meets in the homes of members on the third Thursday of the month throughout the school year. Meetings are held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Meetings consist of fellowship, refreshments, business, and program.

Joy Circle usually meets in the homes of members on the third Thursday of the month, September through May. Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. Meetings consist of fellowship and study.
