WELCOME! The congregation of John Wesley invites you to become a member of our church. Together, we are building a community dedicated to the continuing ministry of Jesus Christ.

Becoming A Member - A pastor issues the invitation to join at the end of the worship service. (See the Invitation to Discipleship & Church Membership” in the worship bulletin.) You are asked to join the pastors at the altar and receive the vows of membership. At the end of the service the congregation has an opportunity to welcome you. You will also be invited to an orientation class designed to give new members and visitors an introduction to Methodism, our congregation’s vision and ministry. These classes are held two – three times a year.

Are you joining a church for the first time and have never been baptized?
Any person desiring to confess faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and wishing to serve Him as your Lord, may become a member of the church by Profession of Faith. If you have not been baptized, the pastor will administer this Sacrament.

Are you currently a member of another denomination?
If you are already a member a member of another denomination, we receive you by your covenant vows. You will be transferring your membership to John Wesley United Methodist Church. The United Methodist Church honors baptisms from other Christian denominations so new members will not be baptized again. After receiving you into the United Methodist Church, we will contact your former church and advise them of your new membership.

Are you currently a member of another United Methodist Church?
If you are a member of another congregation of the United Methodist Church, we will receive you by Transfer of Membership. The church office will write and secure a Certificate of Transfer for you.
