Dear JW Family and Friends,
We are all being affected in one manner or another by the coronavirus (COVID-19). Local officials have called for large churches and other large gatherings to suspend meeting in order to help curb the possible spread of the virus. As Christians, we should always seek to love our neighbors and protect the health of our community and congregation.
This Sunday, March 15, we will suspend all in-person church worship services, Sunday classes and other activities. We will be making another announcement early next week, as we assess the situation about weekly activities.
We cannot be together in person, but we will experience a special time as we remember our baptism. Baptism is a sacrament that unites each Christian around the world. We encourage you to have a glass of water available on Sunday morning.
We recognize that these measures may seem extreme to some, but this decision has not been made lightly. We are hopeful that as many large organizations take similar measures, COVID-19 can be eradicated sooner and our community life can come back to its normal rhythms.
The single thing we all claim and know for sure is the church will continue to exist longer than any virus. Thank you for being the church. We deeply appreciate your patience and flexibility as we do our best to protect the vulnerable and love our neighbors well.
